Our Team

After a four-year professional hockey career which included winning a Calder Cup (Hershey Bears 2010) and a Kelly Cup (South Carolina Stingrays 2009), Johann founded Oceanside Advisors in 2012 and the company became a registered investment advisor in 2014. Johann holds the Chartered Financial Analyst®  designation and is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™. He is also an active member of the CFA Society of South Carolina. He has over 15 years of personal investing experience and received a Bachelor's degree in Finance from Ohio State University, where he was a four-year scholar-athlete on the men’s hockey team. Johann previously held positions at Gradient Investments and Visionary Insurance Advocates.

Johann is originally from Minneapolis, MN and resides in Charleston, S.C. with his wife Kaitlin, and daughter Keegan.




Tyson's focus is on finding current players who have an interest in becoming advisors after hockey, as well as educating agents on the services within our hockey family. Prior to joining the Players Wealth Group, Tyson played in the NHL for parts of eight seasons with the Blues, Sabres, Capitals, Panthers, and Wild. The remainder was spent primarily in the American League before finishing his eleven-year career with a season with the Cardiff Devils of the EIHL.


He attended Cardiff Metropolitan University in Cardiff, Wales where he earned an MBA degree in Finance with Merit. He went to Ohio State University where he was teammates with Johann Kroll for three of his four years. He now holds a Series 65 license.


Tyson and his wife Kate met at Ohio State. During his hockey career, they founded and ran a non-profit that promoted and supported animal adoption and welfare. They currently reside in New Albany, Ohio with their two adopted dogs, Petey and Beau.

Patrick played seven seasons of professional hockey with the South Carolina Stingrays, the last five of which he was an assistant captain. He was the recipient of the Heart, Hustle, and Desire award three consecutive seasons. The honor is presented to one player who is considered by their peers to be the hardest working in their respective Conference, demonstrating heart, hustle, and desire each and every night, both on and off the ice. He was also honored as the Jerry Zucker Community Service Award winner for his dedication to the Charleston community.


Patrick is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ and currently holds a Series 65 license. Patrick graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree with a concentration in Finance. While at Notre Dame, he was a three-year Monogram award winner for the men's varsity ice hockey team.

Patrick joined the Players Wealth Group training program in the summer of 2017 as he wrapped up his hockey career. He is a native of Pittsburgh, PA and now resides in Charleston, SC with his wife Victoria.

Ross is the newest member of the Players Wealth Group team. In addition to holding his Series 65 license, he is also a licensed insurance professional helping to implement risk-management policies when appropriate. Ross graduated from the Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering.  While at MSOE, he was a four-year letter winner for the DIII men's ice hockey team, serving two-years as team captain.

Before joining the Players Wealth Group, he enjoyed twelve years as an account executive delivering energy-efficient HVAC equipment and controls solutions for commercial applications.  During that time, he spent eight years coaching youth hockey while also helping launch an adaptive sports sled hockey program in Milwaukee.

Ross currently resides in Mount Pleasant, SC where he enjoys golfing and spending time with his wife Kari and son Jackson. He moved to Charleston in 2018 from his hometown of Detroit, MI where he and Kari first met.
